Here are some other variations I came up with that I was thinking of using with my class:
1) Spelling words (teacher gives words an d as the ball goes around the students give a letter to spell the word)
2) Adjectives (students give words that describe a given object)
3) How-To (students give steps on how to do something)
4) Math facts (students call out the parts of a number sentence; e.g. "5," "plus," "4," "equals," "9" OR "6," "minus," "1," "equals," "5")
5) Skip counting (each student continues the counting by stating the next number)
6) Building sentences (according to the parameters of the teacher i.e. it must include a noun, adjective, verb, and prepositional phrase)
7) Story retell (students share a part of the story they remember, no repeats)
